One morning in Dehradun, two best friends, Ronak and Arjun, were excited about their weekend adventure in Mussoorie. They lived in a busy city, but they looked forward to escaping into the hills every weekend.
Today, they planned to ride their bicycles to a forest in Mussoorie to enjoy nature and maybe see some wild animals. They packed their bags with sandwiches, juice, and chocolates and started their little adventure. As they were riding to the forest, the fresh air and the sound of birds and streams made them feel like they were already far away from the city.
Everything seemed perfect… until something unexpected happened.
On a path in the forest, Arjun suddenly stopped and pointed. “Ronak! Look over there!”
Ronak looked in the direction Arjun was pointing. Right in the middle of the path was a big dog. It had thick fur and was wagging its tail, but it was also barking loudly. It seemed friendly, but also too excited.
Ronak’s heart raced. “Oh no, Arjun! That dog might chase us!” he said nervously. Without waiting, he quickly got on his bicycle and pedaled as fast as he could.
“Wait, Ronak! Don’t leave me behind!” Arjun shouted. But it was too late, as Ronak was already gone. Arjun was now standing alone with the dog and he was not really sure what to do.
For a second, Arjun froze. The dog barked again and wagged its tail faster. Arjun was not sure if the dog only wanted to play or was just curious, but he did not want to take chances.
Then he remembered that he was good at climbing trees.
Without wasting time, Arjun ran to a nearby tree and climbed up until he found a strong branch to sit on. “Phew! I’m safe!” he thought as he looked down at the dog.
The dog sniffed around for a while but soon got bored. It then turned around and walked away. Arjun waited a little longer to make sure the dog was really gone before climbing back down.
A few minutes later, Arjun heard someone calling his name. “Arjun! Arjun, where are you?”
It was Ronak! His face looked worried. “Arjun! Are you okay? That dog was huge! I thought I could get away faster on my bicycle.”
Arjun climbed down from the tree. “You left me behind, Ronak! You did not even check if I was okay!” His voice sounded upset.
Ronak looked guilty. “I’m really sorry. I got scared and just wanted to get away as fast as I could. But I should have stayed with you.”
Arjun crossed his arms. “Yes, you should have. Friends don’t leave each other behind.”
Ronak said, “I know. I will not make that mistake again.”
The two friends rode home in silence. Arjun was not talking much, and Ronak felt terrible for leaving his friend behind.
Finally, Ronak broke the silence. “You know, I only thought about myself when I ran away. But that is not how friends should act. I should have stayed with you and faced the dog together. I’m really sorry, Arjun.”
Arjun listened and then smiled. “I was scared too. But next time, we will always stick together, alright?”
Ronak agreed. “That’s a deal!” he said.
By the time they reached home, Ronak had learned that running from a problem does not always fix it. Arjun realized that challenges are easier with a friend by your side.
True friends always stick together, no matter what. Whether it is a big problem or just a big, barking dog, real friends help each other.

Sticking Together Challenge
Activity:
Kids will work in pairs to complete an obstacle course. One child will wear a blindfold, and the other will help them walk safely through the course— just like Ronak and Arjun learned to stick together in the forest.
Why it’s fun:
This activity teaches kids to work as a team, trust each other and help friends when they are stuck in a challenging situation. Friends are supposed to stay together and help each other out.
Products:
Blindfolds, cones, ropes, chairs, timer (optional).
How it Works:
One child wears a blindfold while the other gives them directions to complete the course.
Time how fast each child completes the course, but remember that the main goal here is to encourage teamwork!
Discuss how working together made everything easier and helped them finish the challenge.
