Aarav and Rohan were twin brothers from Pune. They loved playing together and always had fun. They also had the exact same facial features… but their skin colour was not the same at all.
Aarav had dark brown skin like their mom, while Rohan had light skin like their dad. Even though they were brothers, people noticed and pointed out their differences.
Aarav and Rohan’s family was full of love. Their parents cared for them, played with them, and taught them good values. But whenever their relatives visited, they would say things that made Aarav feel bad.
Someone would smile and say, “Rohan, you are so handsome!” Then they would turn to Aarav and say, “Aarav, you should use something on your skin so you look more like your brother.”
Aarav never really thought about how he and Rohan looked different. He loved his brother, but hearing those words hurt him a lot. He did not say anything, but he wished people would notice him for something other than his skin color.
Aarav and Rohan were good at different things. Aarav loved football. He was the fastest player on his team and could kick the ball straight into the goal.
Rohan was brilliant at maths. He enjoyed solving tricky math problems and could find answers faster than anyone in his class. His teachers were very proud of him, and they thought he was a genius.
One day, their school announced two big competitions— the football final and the city Math Olympiad. Aarav’s team had made it to the finals, and Rohan had been chosen for the Olympiad because of his brilliant maths skills.
But there was one problem. Both events were on the same day!
Their parents were excited and said, “One of us will go to Aarav’s football match, and the other will go to Rohan’s competition. That way, you will both have our support!”
The day of the competition arrived. Aarav wore his football jersey, while Rohan wore his school uniform for the Olympiad.
At the football match, Aarav ran as fast as he could, passed the ball, and kicked with all his strength. In the last few minutes, he scored the winning goal. The whole crowd cheered, “Aarav! Aarav!”
At the same time, in the Math Olympiad, Rohan was focused. He solved every problem carefully and checked his answers. When the results were announced, he had won first place. The audience clapped, and his teacher handed him a medal and certificate.
That evening, their family had a big celebration. Their mother hugged them both and said, “We are so proud of you. And not because of how you look, but because of how hard you worked.” Their father smiled and added, “True beauty is not in skin color. It is in your kindness, talent, and effort.”
From that day, everyone (even their relatives) stopped comparing the boys by their looks and instead praised them for their achievements. Everyone now knew Aarav and Rohan as the two stars of Pune— one shining on the football field and the other in the world of numbers.
Aarav used to feel sad when people compared him to Rohan. But he learned that being different was not a bad thing. He learned that what truly mattered was not how someone looked but what they could do. His family and relatives also realized that a person’s true worth comes from their hard work and skills, not their appearance.
Everyone is special in their own way. When we look beyond how someone looks and see what they are really good at, we can see the real beauty in everyone.

Talent Swap Challenge
Activity:
Parents and kids will swap roles to teach each other a skill they excel at. This fun and interactive activity encourages confidence, patience, and mutual respect while allowing families to explore each other’s talents.
Why it’s fun:
This activity is a mix of learning and play! Kids will enjoy the excitement of teaching their parents, while parents will have fun trying something new. It strengthens family bonds and helps everyone appreciate different strengths.
Products:
A notebook or paper for notes (optional)
Any supplies related to the skills (e.g., crayons for drawing, a football for sports, a puzzle book for math)
How it Works:
Choose a Skill – The child and parent will each pick one skill they are good at and one they want to learn. For example, a child who loves painting will teach their parent, while a parent who is good at storytelling will share their tips with the child.
Role Reversal – The child becomes the teacher and explains their chosen skill to their parent. Afterward, the parent switches roles and teaches their skill to the child.
Practice & Encourage – Both should try their best, even if the activity feels challenging. Encouragement and patience are key to making the experience enjoyable.
Share & Reflect – After the activity, discuss how it felt to learn something new. What was fun? What was challenging? This reflection helps children understand that everyone has unique strengths.
