Ripul and Hansika were very excited to go to their cousin Karan’s birthday party in Hyderabad. When they arrived at Karan’s house, they saw colorful balloons tied to the gate and heard music and laughter from inside. As soon as they stepped in, they saw all of their cousins and friends playing games and having fun.
But the best part was the smell of pizza coming from the dining table. It was their favorite food, and they could not wait to get a slice.
After playing musical chairs and hide-and-seek, Ripul and Hansika ran to the table to get another slice of pizza. They had played so much that they were now very hungry.
But when they opened the pizza box, their smiles quickly disappeared. There was only one slice left!
“I got here first!” Ripul said. “No! I saw it first!” Hansika said as she held onto the pizza box tightly. “I should get it because I am older!” Ripul argued.
Their voices got louder and louder until everyone at the party turned to look at them. Their older cousin Karan, who was watching them from the side, came over to resolve their argument with a smile on his face.
Karan picked up the last slice of pizza and held it up. “You both want this, right?” he asked. Ripul and Hansika both agreed.
“Okay, let me help you share it,” Karan said. Then, before they could say anything, Karan took a small bite from the pizza.
“There! Now it is the same on both sides,” he said while looking innocent. Hansika responded. “But now it is smaller!”
“Oh! Let me fix that,” Karan said and took another bite from the other side. Ripul’s eyes were wide as she said, “Hey! You are eating it!”
“Oh no, still not even,” Karan said and took one more bite. Then another… and another…
Before Ripul and Hansika could stop him, the entire pizza slice was gone!
They looked at each other and sighed.
“We were so busy fighting that we lost the pizza,” Hansika said. “Yes,” Ripul agreed, “If we had shared, we both could have had some.”
Karan laughed and patted their backs. “That is the lesson! If you argue too much over something small, you might actually get nothing in the end.”
Just then, Karan’s father brought another fresh pizza. This time, Ripul and Hansika did not fight. Instead, they happily shared the slices with each other and their friends.
Ripul and Hansika realized that their fight over the last slice of pizza had only made them both annoyed and angry. Instead of enjoying it together, they had been so focused on winning that they had not noticed what was really happening.
They learned that when people fight over small things, they might get nothing at all. Sharing and working together is always a better choice. If they had split the slice from the beginning, both of them could have enjoyed it.
From that day on, Ripul and Hansika promised to think twice before arguing. They knew that being fair and kind makes everyone happier. After all, good moments are not just about getting what you want but about enjoying them with the people you love.

Snack Split Challenge
Activity:
In this challenge, kids will practice fairness and sharing by deciding how to split a snack when both want the last piece. They’ll look at different ways to divide it and learn a simple rule to keep things fair.
Why it’s fun:
This activity teaches kids fair decision-making, problem-solving, and kindness. Plus, they get to enjoy a tasty treat at the end!
Products:
A few different snacks (cookies, chocolates, fruit slices, crackers, etc.), a small plate or napkin, and a timer (optional).
How it Works:
Set the Scene – Ask your child: “Imagine you and your friend both want the last cookie. What would you do?”
Offer Choices – Discuss different ways to decide. Should one person take the whole piece? Should they take turns picking snacks? Can they find a way to split it fairly?
The ‘One Cuts, One Chooses’ Rule – Teach them this simple fairness rule:
One person cuts or splits the snack.
The other person gets to choose their piece first.
This ensures the split is as fair as possible!
Try It Out! – Give them a real snack and let them practice splitting it with a sibling, parent, or friend.
Discuss the Lesson – After the challenge, talk about:
How did it feel to share?
Was it fair?
Would they do it differently next time?
By working together and being fair, everyone can enjoy the snack without arguing!
