Class Bully and the Quiet Classmate

Aryan was the tallest and strongest boy in his class at a school in Mumbai. Everyone knew him because he was always laughing, talking, and making sure he was the center of attention. But sometimes, Aryan was not so nice. He liked teasing people, especially one boy named Rishi.

Rishi was the quietest kid in class. He was small, wore big glasses, and loved reading and drawing. He always sat in the front row and paid close attention to the teacher.

Aryan and his friends usually ignored Rishi or laughed at him when he answered questions in class. They thought he was too quiet, too serious, and honestly, a little boring. Rishi never said anything about it, but he wished that they would stop laughing at him.

Big Problem

One morning, Aryan entered class like always— happy and confident. But the moment he sat down, he started panicking because he had forgotten to bring his English homework. His English teacher, Mrs. Kapoor, was very strict. If he did not submit his homework, she might even call his parents.

Aryan started looking around the classroom to find someone who could help him. But most of his friends had already given their notebooks to the teacher.

Then, he noticed Rishi, who was quietly reading a book at his desk.

An Unexpected Help

Aryan hesitated. He had never really talked to Rishi nicely before. But right now, he needed help.

He took a deep breath and walked toward Rishi. He asked, “Uh… Rishi, I, um… I forgot my homework. Can I… maybe just take a quick look at yours?”

For a moment, Rishi did not say anything. Aryan was sure he was going to say no. But instead, Rishi just slid his notebook over and said, “You can check it, but don’t copy it. Try to write it in your own words.”

Aryan was shocked. He had never done anything nice for Rishi, but Rishi was helping him without a second thought.

Quickly, he read through the notes and scribbled down his homework as fast as he could. Just as the teacher walked in, he handed Rishi’s notebook back.

“Thanks,” Aryan whispered. Rishi just looked at him and went back to his book.

New Friendship

Mrs. Kapoor collected the homework, and Aryan was now feeling relieved. But as the day went on, he also started feeling guilty.

Rishi had helped him, even though Aryan had never been kind to him before. He had never teased Aryan or laughed at him, yet Aryan and his friends had always ignored him.

At lunch break, Aryan saw Rishi sitting and eating his food alone like he always did. Aryan picked up his lunchbox and walked over to Rishi’s table.

“Can I sit here?” Aryan asked. Rishi looked up and said, “Sure!”

“Thanks for helping me today,” Aryan said, as he gave Rishi a small smile. “That’s okay,” Rishi replied.

“You know,” Aryan said as he opened his lunchbox, “You are really smart. Maybe you can help me study for the math test next week?” Rishi responded. “I would love to.”

From that day, Aryan and Rishi became really close friends. Aryan stopped teasing Rishi and even told his other friends to stop. When someone else tried to make fun of Rishi, Aryan stood up for him.

He realized that Rishi was not just some quiet kid in the class. He was kind, smart, and a truly amazing friend.

Lesson Learned

Being strong does not mean being the loudest or the biggest. It means being kind, understanding people, and treating them with respect.

Aryan learned that sometimes, the quietest people have the biggest hearts. They may not talk a lot, but they can be the best friends you will ever have.

This story reminds us that kindness is very important. No matter who we are, we all have something special to give. And when we help others, we become a stronger and happier person ourselves.

Everyday Kindness Challenge

Activity:
In this challenge, kids will practice kindness by doing small, thoughtful actions for others. Every day, they will choose one kind act and do it. This could be helping a friend, sharing a toy, or giving someone a compliment.

Why it’s fun:
This challenge teaches kids that small acts of kindness can make a big difference. Just like Aryan learned in the story, being kind to others can lead to great friendships. Kids also feel happy and proud when they help someone.

Products:
A small jar or box, slips of paper, and a pencil.

How it Works:
Write different kind actions on small pieces of paper (e.g., “Say something nice to a friend,” “Help someone with their work,” “Invite a classmate to play”).
Put the papers in a jar or box.
Each day, your child picks one paper and does the kind act.
At the end of the week, talk about how they felt doing kind things and how others reacted to their kindness.
Remind them that, just like Rishi and Aryan’s story, kindness can create strong friendships.
